I’m not sure of all the scholarship boxes that my son checked off on while doing the UC App - but I told him to check off any pertaining to having a single mom, and any pertaining to ancestors in the Confederacy/Union/American Revolution etc (genealogy my my hobby.)
I’m curious as to how are those awards are considered. For instance, who decides, from a field of hundreds of UC admits with single moms, which student gets that scholarship?
Does it go to the student with the strongest UC app AND who checked the “single mom” box?
Son received his Merced financial aid package but wasn’t lucky enough to score one of these smaller UC scholarships. Still has at least one more UC aid package pending though. Just wondering/hoping.
