The Wait List

I have to agree with you Baystater. My daughter’s friend landed on 10/10 CHASED/HADES and select other boarding school WL’s this year. However, she quietly applied to a Forbes List day school in NY well after the deadline and got in. In particular if you are out of area and there are special circumstances re why you didn’t apply when everyone else did, you may get in. Don’t know why said school referred to above didn’t take a Manhattan candidate from their own WL, and chose to take an out of area candidate whose family was willing to move to Manhattan instead, but hey, anything can happen and sometimes does.

We were wait listed at Andover, Exeter and SPS. However, just received word that we just got a slot at SPS. All three schools had been over enrolled- so miracles can happen!

@calnat: I did not know Exeter was over-enrolled too…

and Congratulations!!!

Wow and yes miracles can and do happen a big CONGRATULATIONS! May I ask your incoming grade and gender?

@calnat: Did you need financial aid? (If you don’t mind answering) I just want to know the likeliness of getting of the Wait List with Financial Aid.

third form, male needing FA

:O may i ask what you did (send scores / letter of interest etc) to get off the waitlist? :D

Blehjoints, many times there aren’t specific things that applicants “did” in order to get off the waitlist. Most times it just depends on the given school’s needs at that particular time.

Blehjoints: Wait and Pray

Is it possible, at schools such as Andover or Exetor, that a student would not be accepted one year but then guarnteed a spot for the following year?

Nothing is guaranteed. Admissions are different each year.

Deerfield wait list has been dissolved. :(

Where did you receive the info about Deerfield’s wait list?

@Aec081: Sorry for the late reply, I called and they told me.

DA also sent out written letters.

Hey guys, haven’t posted in a while, but back in April(the 10th) I got off of Choate’s waitlist  I’m going into 9th grade, and I’m a boy.

Congrats, ayzswim! Good luck at Choate!

got off of the Exeter waitlsit about two weeks ago! I didn’t even know what to do with myself i was so happy. Andover sadly over enrolled so that waitlist had no chance from the start but my dream of attending Exeter came true and now im going to live it for the next four years. I thought that realistically, waitlist would be the end of the school applications road and had already began prepping for SSATs for next years application but the AO came through for me and I couldn’t be happier! For anyone reading this, don’t give up on your waitlist position because any day, you could get the call you’ve been waiting for.

That. Is. Awesome. Seriously? Exeter! I can’t believe anybody got off that waitlist. Good luck!!!

Anyone hear updates on the St. George’s wait list?
