The Waitlist?

@biancastarfiare Congratulations! How did Millbrook notify you that you were being taken off the wait list?

Congratulations to @biancastarflare! I received an email from the coach for my main sport yesterday saying he has put me at the top of his list (not PEA). I am trying to keep my expectations low, but would love to know if anyone else has had these types of communications from schools they are wait listed for. I really really don’t want to make people freak out because we are all in exactly the same cruddy place right now. I would however still like to know if I am receiving generic “keep the faith” contact like everyone on a WL or not.

@biancastarllare did you have any communication with school before Millbrook accepted you from the wait list??

@BigBird18‌
Yes, I wrote an email to the director of admissions (the person whom interviewed me) saying that even though I was already accepted at other schools, I would still love to have the chance to attend Millbrook (didn’t say it was my first choice). I also listed some recent accomplishments and thanked him again.
He responded saying that I was definitely on top of the wait list and I received an acceptance letter around 3 days later.
Good luck! :)

@biancastarflare congratulations!!

If anyone out there is waiting for Loomis and needs financial aid- it’s not looking good

why do you say that? Does it ever look good for those needing financial aid, except of course when you get it?

I did turn down loomis with FA (not much)

I spoke with admissions staff today and it’s not looking like there is $ available for 9th grade girls

that must have been really hard to learn. I am sorry. This whole experience has been figuratively a killer

My daughter declined at Loomis today and she had a substantial FA award. Good luck to Loomis hopefuls- it’s a great school!

@freshlook what school is your D going to?

Bad news for 9th grade boarding girls waiting for Westminster. They aren’t going to Waitlist !

the question is…anyone going to the waitlist? Anyone?

We turned down Loomis as well. 10th grade, girl, full pay. Good luck!

Will all the schools communicate Wait List updates today by email?

@BigBird, the schools are all separate entities.Do not assume they do anything exactly the same way.

I spoke to the admissions office at Andover yesterday. Andover’s yield for the 9th grade class was 86%. They are over-enrolled by 15 students at this point. Chances are for anyone getting in off the wait list (at least for borders) at Andover seems quite bleak.

If they’re overenrolled, they’re not going to the WL. The purpose of the WL is to be there in case of UNDERenrollment. Any news on other schools?

That stat was just for 9th grade. So I think while @MrNephew you accurately state that they are not going to WL for 9th grade and getting off the wait list for ALL boarders is unlikely with an overenrollment situation, the statement that it is “quite bleak” is more accurate than yours. Just saying. Individuals who were smart and aware enough to be put on the Andover waitlist I believe never really felt there was much of a chance there anyway. IMHO

Well, for 9th grade, it’s safe to say they’re not going to the waitlist.

I thought it was quite clear that I was responding to sgopal, from which you could infer that I was talking about ninth grade.

If that was unclear, I apologize.
