**The Waitlisted-by-WashU-and-therefore-losing-all-hope-of-going-to-HYPS Club**

knat - it is irrelevant as an anecdote as well, athough I would be interested in how you think it had relevance. Again, if 100 people applied to MIT and 10 were accepted, while 3 applied to Wash U and all 3 were accepted, that says something very different than 30 applying to each school and 10 getting into MIT and 3 getting into Wash U. What can one possibly learn about the relative admissions policies and selectivity of each school based on the incomplete data provided by lissmrt?

about the same here, dpattzlover

I was wait listed by WashU, yet I was accepted to Princeton.

D got rejected early action to Stanford, accepted early (nonbinding) to WashU, going to Vandy RD

My D got wait listed at Wash U,

  • accepted at
    UC Berkeley,
University of Maryland College Park Honors (no merit $$),
    Brandeis (no merit $$).

Waiting to hear from WU…especially grants, etc.
UC Berkeley in state tuition/room and board about $24K (we live in Los Angeles)
Wash U $50K
Brandeis $50K
Maryland $35K

Waitlisted at WashU, accepted to Williams and Cornell… which would you pick? Williams is the #1 LAC, Cornell is an Ivy, even if it isn’t Harvard…

I personally have accomplished some great things at international level. I am also a class valedictorian, and presidential scholar. I am on full-ride to Wash.U. and got into many of the ivy league schools. I don’t think they would always waitlist someone with extraordinary character. I am narrowing down to Wash.U., Dartmouth, Wharton, Brown (since it is a great fit for me), NYU (BA/DDS Program), <northwestern, uc=“” berkeley,=“”> and Harvard. Mainly due to horrible financial aid, I would turn down the other schools including Yale, Columbia, and JHU.</northwestern,>

Based on what you’ve posted here, I hope you don’t go to WashU.

But then he’ll go to Dartmouth. WU2013, what CAN we DO in this instance?

Based on all his posts, I am pretty confident Humboldt is not a real person. If by some chance he is, well… God help him. Can you even imagine what someone like that had for an essay? Scary. Anyway, seems fake to me.

I can’t imagine what his essay would be like but I can imagine under Future plans he checked other and put “Better than you!” or something along those lines =)

True. Sometimes they make a mistake and admit them. (I’m on the same page as you, fallenchem.)

palmalk - LOL, it is almost funny if not so pathetic. Someone PM’d me and pointed out the many inconsistencies in his posts. Just one example is he claims he is getting a merit scholarship from Wash U, yet he also states he has never been there, and Wash U doesn’t give merit scholarships without the weekend on campus. Also, for someone of his extraordinary talent, Wash U does not cap a trip out at $300, they pay what it takes. It is just obviously bogus. That’s the last I have to say about him/her/it.

waitlisted. wow.

Well, that means my secret-sort-of-weapon worked to offset my ZOMGFAIL application. I think. Maybe not. One way or another.

fallenchemist: don’t feed the PM ■■■■■. :D

Wash U is the most overrated school in the country.

i am pretty sure WashU doesn’t have Tufts syndrome…you guys need to just chill out! try not to worry and you will all get in places you will end up loving.

Objective789,
Like whoaitspatricia said, please just chill out. Please, move on with your life.

WashU can’t be overrated.

Its current students are happy, successful, and inspired, and they were also talented top students in high school to boot.

On top of that, “overrated” is quite a subjective word. There are threads around here that list 101 reasons to attend WashU due to what you can empirically find on campus, as well as a much-read thread on why WashU “has it all” due to the same list of objective, empirical reasons.

I might be biased, but every day WashU has is emerging more and more as THE premier institution.

when i got waitlisted, i totally decided to just ignore the washu forum. but i regret that now that i saw the title of this thread which totally describes my life lol

I applied to a lot of other universities so we’ll see what happens. So far I got into UCLA so.

hahaha the title is hilarious. But don’t lose hope! My friend is now a sophomore at Yale, and he got wailtlisted from WashU.
