Can someone comment on how bad the weather in Syracuse really is? Its one of my D's top choices, but I'm a little concerned. I have heard that besides the snow, it rains alot, and the weather seems to be bleak most of the time. What I'm wondering is once your a student there and used to it, is it really an issue? When we visited Syracuse of course it was a beautiful day. And the tour guide said that they do get massive amounts of snow, but its always cleared before classes start, and the classes are never cancelled. Any comments?

I actually visited the school just yesterday and it did happen to be raining. From what I've been told by students, it does snow a lot but they all get used to it. My tour guide was from Florida and had never seen snow before but he said it doesn't bother him at all. I think the students just take it in stride and have fun with it.

I live about 10 minutes from SU. Although we do get a lot of snow it really isn't that bad. The worst part of winter in Syracuse is the cold temps coupled with the wind. The absolute worst part of Syracuse is that the sun only graces us with its pressence a handful of times a year, thanks to Lake Ontario.

I went to SU's summer program this past year, and it did rain most of the time. We had little celebrations when we didn't have to walk through the rain to class (we had to walk from Lawrinson Hall to Syracuse Stage - quite a trek). However, I don't know what it is like during the regular school year. I wouldn't plan on it being great weather, though.

From all accounts, the climate at SU doesn't seem to be one of its selling points.

d at syracuse, always snows, but the students don't mind. The weather never stops anyone from going to class or going out. It is very cold though, and you cant get through the winter with good boots and a heavy coat.
The students really appreciate when the weather is nice, and its sunny.
