Just got home from the lovely campus of Swarthmore, where my DD and her sweetie just got married! It was a lovely setting for a wedding, with the ceremony at the Swarthmore Presbyterian Church and the reception at Lang, the music building! It was a great experience, with lots of memories for the happy couple, as Lang is where they met as music majors.

Just one more example of Swarthmore being "the Quaker Matchbox"!

Awwww that's wonderful. You must have had absolutely beautiful wedding weather!!! Congratulations!!!!!! I'm very happy for you and your dd. :) :) :)

Congratulations, MomofThree. I'm sure that was a weekend to remember!

My father, in his 80s, lives in a Carolina coastal resort community. When he told his friends about his granddaughter getting accepted at Swat, one couple -- also in their 80s -- turned out to be a Quaker Matchbox couple as well. That tradition goes way back.

Thanks for the kind words, friends! Andi, you are right! It was about 83 degrees and low humidity, the sun shown all day long. Gorgeous!

ID, yup! I am the result of such a union myself, as are my three sibs! My parents met at orientation, as they had the same quite UNUSUAL last name. Can you imagine?

Wow, momofthree!! I can see why Swat is so special to you.

Congrats on your daughter's wedding...must have been great! I am thinking that the Lang Center is a great venue for a reception, when my son decides to get married. That might be a decade or more from now, but it doesn't hurt to get prepared, does it? :) :)

Just wondering: was your daughter a recent Swat grad (as in, '04)? A good friend of mine was joined at the hip with his girlfriend when they graduated and, when I saw your post, I couldn't help thinking this might have been his wedding. Both he and his girlfriend were music majors.

momofthree -
I live across the street from the north entrance of campus (Ken Sharpe's Banana House) and after reading the thread, I distinctly recall helping out an elderly couple who were trying to get to Lang for a wedding on Independence Day weekend. I remember being awfully inarticulate in explaining to them that they might have to walk a bit. Anyway, mazel tov!
PS- Like Shellfell's son, I cannot possibly imagine marrying a Swattie. But much stranger things have happened.

Thank you so much for assisting the couple!~ It was a CRAZY weekend to be in the Philly area due to Live 8 and Elton John but all expected guests arrived safely. You helped!

Sound like you live in a pretty cool place. Have a great year!
