Dear Reader,
I’m a student at a small public LAC in Oregon and I’m considering applying for transfer admission.
My reasons are pretty simple: I feel that I’ve exhausted the resources of my university and desire to be challenged academically, and to have greater extra-curricular opportunities and access to better facilities.
I’m an Economic major looking to transfer to a top school such as UChicago, Stanford, or Columbia. I understand that transfer admissions can be a crapshoot, but I’m wondering what my chances are. (btw, I’m interested in finance).
Strengths:
4.00 College GPA (expected to maintain)
Excellent professor referrals
Tutoring a Senior Level Finance course in my freshman year.
Weaknesses:
3.45 UW High School GPA, 3.77 Weighted High School GPA with an upward trend and increasingly rigorous course-load.
2030 combined SAT: 720 Math, 640 CR, 670 Writing.
Again, I’m transferring for the academic experience, but also because I’m interested in finance as a career.
I’m currently a Freshman, and I’m doing well in my classes. I was considering waiting for sophomore year to apply for junior admission, seeing as I’ll be in college longer.
I’d be grateful for anyone’s opinion and particularly input from experience.
Sincerely,
OverAchiever96
