....having mail come, know that there is info in the envelope, and have to look at the unopened envelope for HOURS until my son gets home from school. I can't be the only parent like this, can I?

As Parents we have completely stayed out of this process with our son, he has done it all, the only thing we did was accompany him to Unifieds. It has worked well for us (and him) to handle the process on his own. However now that he's towards the end of it all, I am very excited to see what these letters hold.

I am grateful that one of his acceptances came via email, I had no idea it was coming and therefore it was a huge surprise :)

This is my first post but I've been lurking in the MT section for about a month.. My D has applied to 5 programs. One acceptance to a school but nothing yet from the MT programs. I wish they would start coming in too.

No, the worst part is getting a text from my mom in the middle of class, saying "you got a big envelope today" and then coming home to find that it was something other than an acceptance letter.

(That's happened about four times, including this afternoon! Augh!)

My s auditioned for a school on Sat, Feb 16th and a letter from that school came in the mail on Tue, Feb 18th (a thin letter). I was walking in from the mail box with it and he was in the house sitting in the living room! I couldn't even wait to get into the house! I was holding it up to the sun trying to see through the envelope!!!! LOL!!

D received one letter in one of the "window" envelopes. It was easy to see what was written on the first line without the ethical dilemma of "to open or not to open".... (and it DIDN'T start with: congratulations...)... Oh well. Thank heavens there were others..

4 of the responses we are awaiting the most anxiously are known to phone or emphatically told us they phone. 2 are known to send regular mail - and 1 of those she isn't interested in. So actually we are jumping when the phone rings and fearful of the mailbox.

Question - they have our home phone # and her cell phone # - which do colleges usually call?

I suppose if you offered two phone numbers, they could try either one. In our case, I wouldn't want anyone to try the cell as the cell phones do not work at our house! Only one of my D's colleges informed via a phone call and that was Syracuse to our house (we would never have provided the cell though). Right now, I have a child AT college awaiting decisions for grad school and so none of those come HERE! So far, she has heard from one school only and it was by phone and to her cell but that is all she has at school....a cell. It was voice mail while she was in class.
