I am very interested in Cornell, but my one concern is the theater. I was unable to stop to its theater after my tour, so I am not sure what it is like. I am very passionate about theater and want to continue doing it in college. Compared to a highly reputable program, how would you say Cornell compares? Please be honest, and it would mean the world to me.
I’m in a production at Cornell’s Risley Theater right now. Risley Theater is the student-run theater here at Cornell and they do a number of shows each semester. I think they’re often sold out. Then there are shows at the Schwartz Center as well which I believe are directed by adults (maybe theater professors? I don’t know).
Anybody can audition for these shows so there are plenty of opportunities for people to get involved! I’m not sure how to define how “reputable” it is – the theater department itself (Performing & Media Arts major) has produced some wonderful students who go on to do great things. The shows performed on campus are usually fun and enjoyable. There are a lot of super talented people who go here so the shows are always really great.
