I completed a BA in theater in May of 2009 and am now considering moving on to some form of graduate studies in musical theater. As I research various programs though I am worried I don't have enough of a music background to even get accepted into any programs. I have been taking private voice lessons for over 8 years and did take a couple theory classes between high school and college, but the most recent was 4 years ago.

I have seen some program websites mention remedial classes students might be placed in if they are lacking in enough musical background, however I worry that there's a limit to how much time in remedial classes these programs would allow.

All that said, I guess my question is this: is it worth it to jump into applications for masters programs for musical theater assuming I can just take remedial classes, or do I really need to find some other non-masters program before I bother applying?

Also, if it turns out I do just need to do some post-bac coursework before applying to masters programs, how exactly do I do that and where should I be looking?
