Theater camps?

I'm a high school freshman right now. For the past four years I've been heavily involved in my local children's theater, specifically their six-week summer program. I absolutely love it and I want to continue doing it throughout high school. It's less than 600 dollars and I have a lot of friends there that I don't get to see any other time during the year. We're looking into summer programs like Duke Tip and other academic-things, but they're all very expensive, and there's no guarantee I'll enjoy it.

Basically, do you think that spending half of my summers at a theater camp instead of feeding the hungry or learning astrophysics will hurt my chances with college admissions? I'm not really planning on going into theater as a career, which is another reason I want to seize the opportunity while I have it.

No, it will not hurt you. Working at something you love, even if it’s not your career goal, and sticking to it for a number of years, will be just fine on your college applications.
