Theater/Drama Colleges Part 11

actingmom, thanks for the good wishes. Of course, I am NEVER warm until the temps hit the mid 70s. I shiver and shudder and complain to anyone who will listen all winter, and I live in the very temperate Mid Atlantic area. My husband thinks I just like to complain. :)

its been snowing today, so all you out of towners will be experiencing Minnesota winters firsthand this weekend (although i promise it isn't so terrible). best wishes to everyone this weekend!

actingmom, i know my mom really appreciates having someone to share this with who knows what it is like! can't wait to meet your very talented daughter! :)

I'm assuming that everyone has been checking their web accounts at the various schools. . .My S hadn't checked in a while, and when I checked each one over the past few days, I found that one school still hadn't posted SATs (despite the fact that I have an e-mail from an admissions officer that everything was "IN" last December) and two hadn't posted mid-year senior grades (even though they had been sent in December, at the end of first trimester). A few e-mails later (and a couple of faxes from our high school)--everything was located and updated, so it wasn't a big deal. . .But I'm guessing it might be good to check the application status at all schools if you haven't recently! Something to do while you wait. . .

My son is also heading to Minneapolis this weekend and we just checked the weather forecast. You guys (and girls) are gonna freeze your behinds off, I'm awfully glad I'm not going with him! On the other hand, it will give him a small taste of what winters will be like if he goes there. Good luck to you all!

Oh, lawd. I don't think we even OWN clothing for that type of weather. Maybe we can run between warm interiors -- such as, from the hotel shuttle into the school, from the school into whatever van they use to take the kids places, and so on. This is sort of the way people who live in very hot climates run from one air conditioned interior to another in the summer. :)

Yes we do...and then we freeze inside the buildings because they are so cold! Daffodils are blooming in Georgia!

Nice and down right balmy here in New Orleans...well actually we are a little north of NO, but we will never see those kind of temps here. It is in the 50s tonight, but we still have a fire in the fireplace!

Giddy, NMR, Thoroughly, and Seniormom's S: VERY, VERY, BEST OF LUCK in Minnesota!

Letsfigure..I'm going to need to get on the phone tomorrow and speak with Rutgers about transcripts that are not posted but sent 2 weeks ago. AND......the waiting continues....

CC Moms: UNITE!

Holly06: I corresponded via e-mail with Rutgers with quick results. I sent a note to admissions (admissions@ugadm.rutgers.edu) with a cc to Barbara Harwanko in the Mason Gross program (harwanko@masongross.rutgers.edu). I heard back w/in a day. In the end, they had the Senior Grade Report (which had been sent in December); it just hadn't been posted. However, since they were looking around, they ended up wanting the Second Trimester Grades, too, when they became available. That's OK--they were good grades, and the high school faxed them yesterday! Good luck!

letsfigure-Thank you so much! I'm heading over to e-mail right now. I luv this board.

I just got my acceptance letter to CalArts for BFA Acting!! It's my first acceptance, and one of the only schools I've heard from yet--I've been waiting and WAITING for some word from anywhere-- so I'm really excited!! Does anyone have any information about the school and its program/ the environment there? I know it's pretty experimental and that the program is very reputable, but I haven't visited yet so I don't know all that much...Any thoughts??

Big Congrats! That is great. No information on the school, but have spent a lot of time in that area (Santa Clarita/Valencia) and it is GREAT!

Blueroses1: Congratulations! I don't know that much about CalArts, other than it is very reputable. A possible suggestion - if you are a Facebook person, try and search around for a current student that might agree to add you as a friend and see what they have to say about the program.

Blueroses- CONGRATS!! I have no info on CaLArts but you could try the search tool on the theatre/drama schools threads.

I do not want to identify the program, but can anyone reply to my question? My S has not heard from most schools, but----. Two weeks ago S was placed on a a waiting list.(general waiting). Then a few weeks later my S was notified by the same BFA program that his status is now listed as 'first category waiting'. Does anyone know whether this waiting status is similar to 'priority waiitlist'? Son got into his LAC schools with tuition exchange. But we are sure about moat schools.

briansteffy, it does sound like a priority waitlist situation. Is there a way your son could email the school to ask for more info? Congrats to S on getting into his LACs!

Congrats on the acceptances! And, it seems like your son is "getting closer" at that BFA program, so that's a good thing!

Congrats to everyone as well! I myself have been accepted to both SUNY Fredonia and Marymount Manhattan for BFA Acting :) Thankfully I'm 2/2, but I have a feeling that'll end this week! haha. 5 schools left to hear from. Question though, anyone who auditioned on the 16th hear from SUNY Purchase? Thanks! :D

I auditioned for SUNY Purchase on the 4th of February and they called me and another guy in my ensemble offering us a place in their acting ensemble of 22.

called on the 24th of February
