Theater major?

Can anyone tell me about the theater program at Bennington, particularly performance/acting?

It is my impression that they are small, student led performances. It’s a small school so you can expect big musicals like you might get at someplace like Muhlenberg. My daughter (a dancer) had a paying job working in the scene shop and she was always busy. They have several theaters of varying sizes.

There is also a faculty-run production each term – last fall they did Angels in America. Take a look at the curriculum on the school’s website – it will give you a sampling of the types of theatre classes offered and caliber and experience of faculty. A

They have great facilities and a vibrant community. Here is a link about it

Peter Dinklage (won a Golden Globe this past year) is an alumnus.

I don’t study theater, but I have friends who do. One is a huge musical theater nerd, and Bennington is basically completely devoid of that kind of thing, so if that’s your deal you’re out of luck, but even so she still likes the program here. The production(s) of Angels in America were amazing. The faculty run Shakespeare productions are a bit more hit and miss in my opinion, but the overall impression I’ve gotten over the last few years is that the theater program is pretty good.
