Theatre/Business School

Hello!

I am new to College Confidential and am looking for some suggestions. I am looking to either double major and major and minor in theatre and business. I'd ideally like to produce and market for theatre companies. I'd like to concentrate on directing within theatre. I founded my own theatre company freshman year (Boston Teen Acting Troupe - Premier Teen Theatre) and since then have been in The New York Times and twice on NPR as well as many local papers. While my GPA is a 3.3 and my SAT's are around 1800 I'm hoping my extracurriculars will be a big pull (my consoler seems to think so).

Any suggestions for schools? I'd like to be in a town with a lot of theatre NYC, Chicago, Boston etc. Anyone students or parents of students who have pursued similar majors I'd love to hear from you!

This is my list as of present:

SAFTEY:
St. Mikes
Loyola Chicago
Maryount Manhattan

MATCH:
Fordham
Ithaca
Emerson

REACH:
Brown
Northwestern
NYU

Thanks!

Can your family afford St Mikes, Loyola and Marymount? Would you be happy to attend them? Both of those must be true to be safeties. I also question if they are admission safeties. For instance your scores are right in the middle 50%ile and ~60% of admitted students had a higher GPA. What about UMass?

Columbia College Chicago would be safe for admissions, and could work for your major.

Drexel in Philadelphia or Northeastern in Boston might work. Muhlenberg would work for your majors although it isn’t in a major city.

University of MN has strong Theatre, strong Business school (both schools next to each other). Also Minneapolis is a great theatre city. Lastly, out of state tuition is very reasonable.
