What a great way to start UCLA the first monday of class i go to my dorm to find all of my **** stolen. Brand new Macbook, ipod, tv, xbox 360, everything. Door was locked. In DeNeve. If anybody knows ANYTHING send me a message. thanks....

that effing sucks! what building?

I'm putting all that stuff on eBay/craigslist. Thanks for the toys.

So sorry Stealth! That is terrible. This is a good time for all newbies to check what their insurance coverage is for dorm items. Last year there were threads discussing insurance policies designed for dorms dwellers. It was expensive compared to regular insurance but had little or no deductables and covered laptops, bikes, and whatever other items of value you put down. Pick the dollar amount you want covered and pay the premium. We kept meaning to do it last year but waited until it was too late and my son was also a victim of theft. This year, he was covered from day one at his apartment with renter's insurance. Good luck getting your stuff back stealth.

thanks. it just sucks that it happened right when school started. at least it wasn't later in the quarter when i had papers on my computer..i guess. i just worked my whole summer to come to a great school only for this to happen. it's not like i left my door wide open, i live on campus where there should be some protection. on top of all this i had to go down to the PD so they can take excluding fingerprints. This really ****es me off
sorry for the rant

damn that sucks =/

which building did this happen in? guess its a heads up for the rest of us..

evergreen......

What about your roommates' items? Sorry that this happened

are you sure your door was lock?

do you think one of your roommate(s) were a part of the plan? s/he could have told friend that you were "loaded" and collaborated.

sorry to hear that, now i'm being more cautious about my stuff

where did you keep your laptop?

does anyone use that drawer with a lock or know if it's safe?

dude that sucks omgg
im always on evergreen 3... what floor?

dude that really sux im sorry. i would be furious. what are your ra's saying?

I'm sorry for your loss and hope you recover those items soon.

that really sucks, did your roommates lose their stuff too? did you check if you actually locked the door or just let it swung into position because if you don't pull it in to lock they don't lockup most of the time

This is why the only thing of value I leave out is my Klipsch stereo. Macbook stays locked in the closet with laptop Lojack installed, Ipods are hidden and locked, external HDD is locked etc.

Can never be too careful when you are living with other people.

Did you call UCPD or go down there and file a report? Definitely should do that if you haven't yet.

I'm so totally afraid of leaving my apt without closing my door. In Canyon Point, my door closed itself. I find myself not closing my apt door a lot.

Sorry about your loss. If that happened to me, I wouldn't be able to recover. I simply don't have the funds to even purchase replacement stuff.

no wonder there's tons of extra security around de neve (at night)
