Thematic Option and Freshman Science Honors: Overkill?

Hey! So I really love USC and I applied to both of these programs. I am probably majoring in Neuroscience (pre-med). Would doing both of these programs be overkill? I really like the idea of being in smaller classes for my General Eds and Intro science classes (that are honors!). The thought of a huge lecture hall with the dreaded grade curving is something I don't like...I wanna earn my grade and not have to compete with 150+ other people. Any opinions?

Hey, I was actually curious about this too, so I emailed the director of the FSH program and she was able to give me some really great feedback. Basically, it is a LOT of work, and expect to not really have time to do much else (TO in particular is very reading/writing intensive, and FSH requires many hours of studying). But I think you should email her yourself, because she is very helpful. She also attached a document with emails from students who have done both in the past and were giving their input on it–those were EXTREMELY helpful. Her name is Judy Haw, and her email is judyhaw@usc.edu.

Both programs require a LOT of work, and the FSH classes are taught at a really fast pace, but both are very stimulating, and you’ll have a chance to be taught by some of the best profs at USC AND meet some of the smartest students in these classes. So if you have the have the “academic chops” to handle harder classes than you ever had in HS " and are willing to “hit the ground running”, then go for both programs.
