Hi all - Hope you are well! I am the grateful parent of a Scripps admittee, and had a question about the core curriculum sequence. The Scripps website says that the “current theme” of the Core Program is “Histories of the Present.” Would that be the theme for the class entering this fall, and then would that theme carry-through for Core II and III for that entering class?
The “Histories of the Present” theme has been the same for as far back as course information remains in the course search portal - back to 2010. I suppose they could change it at some point but that would be a lot more work than keeping it the same, and we probably would have heard if there were an overhaul in the works. The individual section themes change somewhat from year to year, but quite a few of them repeat.
The theme and contents of the entire course change every three years. The course always has a historical component and then a focus within that. Currently it is on community and it will remain that way for next year.
