There's cheating, and then there's CHEATING

Wow. This one is hard to believe. Not exactly cheating on tests, but it sure fits the profile! Check this out from the news today (May 7th)

" NEW HAVEN, Connecticut (AP) -- A New York University student was charged with bank fraud after depositing $43 million in bogus cashier's checks into Swiss and American accounts and trying to withdraw the money, prosecutors said Friday.

Hakan Yalincak, 21, also faces civil charges that he convinced two investors to sink $2.8 million into a nonexistent hedge fund and spent the money on luxury items and university donations.

He wept in court as U.S. Magistrate Judge Joan Margolis ordered him jailed until a detention hearing Thursday. "I have a graduation on Wednesday," Yalincak said. "

GRADUATION ?????

Didn't the article also mention that his parents had donated $21 million to NYU in the past year(s)? Bet he had an agonizing time on the waitlist before he got in :) .

hehehe Yeah, I'll bet he was really nervous around April 1st . . .

What do you think will happen? Will NYU expel him? Will he graduate, but have to wear a black and white striped mortar board?

Not a cheating incident, but a drug bust involving students has been in the news here at U of Mich. It seems 14 students were arrested off-campus, in dorms, and Greek houses in a marijuana distribution ring. And amazingly, these kids were quoted as being worried that they were missing their final exams and asked when they would be able to make them up!! Uhhh....never.
