They wrote back to me, and now I'm thinking, is the Visiting UG Program worth it?

Do you think it might be worth it to spend some time at Harvard?

or is housing/and blah and the fact that they inconvenienced us wayy too negative to offset any benefits of joining this program?

Remember, there is no financial aid offered if you are a VUS... this is something to keep in mind.

I met a young man who was a student at a LAC. A truly inspiring prof at his LAC had made him decide to focus on an area of the world that was not well covered at his LAC (except for the inspiring prof). The prof suggested he spend a year at Harvard, which he did. When I met him midway through his year there, he was very enthusiastic about the many excellent courses he was able to take.

This is one of the reasons for the Visiting UG program at Harvard and other universities; being able to take courses not offered at your home institution.

The answer to your question is this: yes.
