Things that make you feel young

Watching new season of The Mandalorian with the family. :grinning:

Watching buds form on trees as spring approaches, makes me feel young, too.

Exercising every day.

Catching DH staring at me when he thinks Iā€™m not looking but, really, nothing much these days makes me feel young. Damn mirror.

My husband calling me ā€œmy beautiful girl.ā€

Definitely exercise! And gardening.

Staring in the mirror and thinking that I can still easily count grey hairs without being overwhelmed. Not needing reading (or any) glasses yet. :sunglasses:

Running down the street with my two year old GD. Exercising and walking. Bending forward and putting my palms flat on the floor. Spending time with my almost 96 year old MIL.

I know this is about what we do to feel young, but I want to mention my new skin care regimen.
I just discovered the Kiehlā€™s micro-dose retinol. Itā€™s anti-aging and it has improved my skin quality and does make me feel young. It is, however, expensive.

Trying to get ready for summer: a wedding and HS reunion. Skin feels really good. Weā€™ll see how long this lasts!

Going for a long walk in the hilly woods with my dog and not feeling winded. Walking that trail with someone younger than I and noticing that sheā€™s struggling and Iā€™m not.

Pickleball!

Doing weird things in the gym. I figure if I can still heave my body over the bar at 50, Iā€™m doing pretty well. Note that it took me 10 years in my teens/20s to be able to do 1 pull-up. Iā€™m not a naturally strong person. Just stubborn.

Also, riding rollercoasters. And seeing/doing/learning new things. Traveling and exploring makes me feel young.

Rolling the windows down in my car, cranking up the 80s music, and belting out the lyrics with my DD!! For a brief moment Iā€™m back in HS again :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I can relate to this thread so much more than the ā€œoldā€ one - I think I REALLY avoid falling into the trap of using the ā€œoldā€ word.

My ā€œthingsā€:
I also crank music loud in the car and dance in my car seat. And I do it listening not to the radio but streaming music - much of it current music.

5 or more miles of something (combined) basically daily. Especially still being able to run a few miles!

Working. Having a productive routine when working and because of work, making my weekends productive at home too.

Social media followings for special interests. Keeping up with things like cooking, nutrition, interior design, the plant/gardening world, books and more by listening, watching, learning!

Keeping in sync with my kids and keeping a relationship now that they are adults that allows us to often just enjoy time and activities together.

Playing pickleball and tennis. Well, playing any sport, really, but those are the only two Iā€™ve had any opportunity to participate in for the last several years.

I play tennis/paddle/pickle- oftentimes with women much younger and I can hold my own.

I also like to learn new things and always try to have an open mind. Attitude is everything.

Being open minded about younger people and appreciating current music, styles (even if I donā€™t wear them), entertainment, etc.

Not falling into the ā€œwe were so much better when we were growing upā€ thing. Accepting that times are always changing and I need to change and adapt too.

Being able to be a runner and being a regular at yoga. Being physically active in general.

Music. In fact, I just had a dose of Depeche Mode and Tears for Fears.

OK, I guess music can take me back to those halcyon years of my youth. Bee Gees, Eagles, early Billy Joel, Linda Ronstadt, Hall and Oates, Bread, John Denver, Jim Croce, Chicagoā€¦

Alright, Iā€™m 18 again for today. Thanks, CC!

I thought of another - dancing! I am always the first one out on the dance floor at weddings, bar mitzvahsā€¦no matter the type of music. Definitely makes me feel like I did in my 20ā€™s.

Agree that music, singing, dancing, help me feel young.
Lately, my aches and pains from chores make me feel old! Nice to hear everyoneā€™s examples. These help brighten my day.:grinning:

Depeche Modeā€™s going on tour; theyā€™re going to be in Atlanta in October!!

Listening to current music. Some of the older bands I like have new albums. I donā€™t dive into the 80s/90s music too much, but I do listen to newer music by bands from those eras that I like. I will indulge with some oldies once in awhile, like when my husband and I listened to REMā€™s early stuff recently on a drive home from his momā€™s, but that inevitably makes me remember how much time has passed since that music was current and starts to make me feel old. I do listen to the radio a fair bit. We have some decent local stations. Going to see bands (although sometimes if there are too many gray hairs in the audience it just makes me feel old).

Hanging out with my friends is another thing that can sometimes make me feel at least ā€œnot oldā€ if not ā€œyoungā€.

Getting engaged in a project.
