Try to explain why we say “hang up” when we end a phone conversation…
That happened to me in the late 80’s -90’s. I just didn’t get it. There were very few pop songs I liked. And then I had kids and I suddenly found myself liking pop music again. I love a lot of it now. These songs are constantly going through my head this week.

At my daughters’ wedding we are planning for the string quartet to play pop songs. She had her 90;year old grandmother listen to them playing Taylor Swifts Wildest Dreams as used in Bridgerton. She loved it!
(Can’t edit my post upthread, but this pretty much says it all.)
I told my mom she needs to haul out my baby book and enter the date of “Baby’s First Joint Replacement.”
I had purple shirts and sweaters that I wore on days when I used the old mimeo. Otherwise…I looked like I spilled purple ink on my clothes.
I take my kindergarten granddaughter to a library book club. Last month the book had a typewriter as a major part of it. None of them had ever seen one in real life! But one did describe it as a way to “stamp the letters on the paper”. Which is actually a pretty good description. I looked around the room at all the parents with the kids and realized that I was probably the only person in the room who had actually used a typewriter regularly!
I was doing a read-aloud with our son when we were homeschooling, and the book referenced the hammers getting jammed on a typewriter. Hard to explain with only words.
Today would have been George Harrison’s 80th birthday. This doesn’t make me feel old or young, but it might for some. It makes me feel happy and a bit sad, though.
Interesting stuff contained in this Rolling Stone article:
Have a great one, George!
Oh, wow, how about that. I’m in that age group that adored the Beatles so much.
Have any of you ever caught the repeat on PBS of the “Tribute to George” concert that was in 2002? It is soooooo good and his son at that time looked exactly like he did when he was young. CONCERT FOR GEORGE Royal Albert Hall 2002 (complete concert part (3/3) of the Harrison songs) - YouTube
I’ve often remarked to my kids on the amount of time I spent in school just trying to dig up the info to even get started on a project. To see all this info just at our fingertips is like a miracle. BUT I do know it made me a really good researcher in today’s world. I think I’m better than my kids in digging up some answers. I just KNOW that info is somewhere in the Google card catalogue and I just haven’t struck on it yet. It’s in the table of contents, index, appendix, a magazine. Just keep looking.
They’re now singing “When I was 64”
On mimeos, it wasn’t the ink that smelled, it was the methanol used to spread the ink on the paper.
A friend sent photos of our first ski trip together … from Jan 1969!!!
Getting our college alumnae magazine and having to go farther and farther back to find our class page (which sadly often includes a name or two of classmates who passed away).

I just read that MAS*H ended its 11 year run 40 years ago… feeling old.
Just saw that it mentioned it to DH. I remember watching it together with friends.
