Think he will get accepted?

<p>Hello,</p>

<p>I hope to transfer to Cornell, Harvard,Stanford, or Harvey Mudd as a physics major.
I have studied at a well known community college in Southern California for the last 4 years, making up for my bad grades in high school...</p>

<p>My high school gpa: 1.9 (I even took the easiest classes)
My College gpa: 3.79 (Last 50 units have been all A's)</p>

<p>Important college classes:</p>

<p>Honors calc 1 and 2 : A
Physics (Mechanics): A
General Chemistry 1 & 2: A
C++ programming: A
Honors calculus 3: in progress
English: C (this was three years ago)
Honors Spanish: A
Honors Anatomy: A</p>

<p>Important Extracurriculars:</p>

<p>1.Presented and published nuclear research at a well known conference.
2.President of a club that received many awards and conducted many fundraisers.
3.Teachers assistant for chemistry and human anatomy
4.about 200 hrs of community service</p>

<p>Other good things:</p>

<ol>
<li>I have letters of recommendation from my physics and chemistry professors that state that I am in the top 1%.</li>
<li>My college officials report form also states that I am in the top 1%</li>
<li>I faced many financial hardships. No financial support from parents since I was 16.</li>
<li>Awards from my college: presidents award, club of the year, leadership award</li>
</ol>

<p>Bad things:</p>

<ol>
<li>I was suspended in high school for ditching (5 years ago).</li>
<li>I need lots of financial aid.</li>
<li>I made some grammar mistakes on my application. </li>
</ol>

<p>Include some other top tier schools in your list. The improvement in your GPA will certainly help you a lot.</p>

<p>Include more top schools? I think the opposite. OP needs to apply to a broader range of schools. Each that you’ve listed have miniscule transfer accept rates. And you’re frankly not the typically accepted transfer student into these schools. The typical transfer admit is one that is usually attending a like school and/or was admitted to several of them when applying as a HS senior. Even if you had immaculate achievements, it’d be terribly difficult. Your stats don’t make you a viable candidate in my opinion.</p>

<p>Best of luck to you on your ongoing search. You’ve definitely shown that you can achieve at the college level and doubtlessly will do well at your next destination. But I don’t think you have a realistic perspective of what the transfer applicant pool looks like for the colleges you’ve listed.</p>
