I just sent an update to my application for all the colleges I applied to. (I know its late but its sorta important.) The problem is here --> I sent it to the UCs and bcc’ed it to the rest (which comprise of ivies, and alike schools). When they open the email, they can see that I sent it to the UCs, as that’sthe only thing I didn’t bcc it to!!!
If that isn’t enough, in the document, I put my uc application number… What will the adcom from the other schools think!!!
I’m extremely upset and scared. What if they see it as a measure of interest? In actuality, I the UCs are like my backups to the privates I applied to, but they don’t know that! Am I overreacting? (Really hope that I am…)
However, these ivies would see you as foolish if you didn’t apply to other schools besides them. They know (especially in the regular decision round) that you will have applied to other schools, so them seeing that you have is not anything surprising. So I wouldn’t be saying it’s the end just yet.
It’d be quite strange for an admission decision to be decided off of such a minor faux pas. Admissions is always looking for reasons to admit you, rather than reject you, even for the most selective of universities - they look for the best students, not students that are not the worst (as if somehow messing up e-mail fields made you worse than anyone else.) So just relax, wait for your decision, and have best of luck.
Calm down! Trust me nobody will assume that you’re some maniac obsessed with studying only at their university and don’t have any backups; though if they do and if they want those types of people, I advice you to stay away from them
Also, the fact that you didn’t send each uni a separate email just shows that you don’t have hours to spare and are using the technology to ease your life, like all of us are told / supposed to do.
All schools know that you are applying to other schools. The most selective schools will probably view the UCs as backups, even if that isn’t true, and won’t think it means you aren’t interested in other schools.
Also…it is pretty late in the game. I wonder if some (most?) decisions have already been made? If you just sent it this week, I can’t imagine they would “revoke” an acceptance if one had been made.
I’d be surprised to learn that any college hasn’t completed the decision process. Those that haven’t already begun sending out notifications are probably finalizing financial aid and scholarship packages. I doubt that the e-mail you sent would have any effect whatsoever. UCSD is probably begininng to make some of their acceptance phone calls right now. I just checked old e-mails, and figured out that my son received his on March 13th last year, and they had started about a week earlier.
@kirii@dudefromeurope@jym626@green678@kibbles@woogzmama Thank you guys! Makes me feel better. Some of them contacted me back and said that it would be added onto my application, so that sounds like a good sign, for whatever colleges did contact me back, I guess.
