<p>I haven't formally taken a physics course in my life, but I had something called Principles of Technology back in 10th grade that mirrored most of what was taught in a basic high school course of it. However, that knowledge is pretty much wiped from my memory banks since I'm now entering my sophomore year of college.</p>
<p>I just finished taking Calculus 2 over the summer last Thursday. Wasn't very challenging. Is it on par with a math course for a first year physics-calculus based course? The pre-req was only Calc 1 in the college catalog, though. Physics was covered in a few sections in my Calc II book covering a variety of things like work, moments, center of mass, centroids, fluid pressure and fluid force which all came very easily but does it get any tougher than that?</p>
<p>I found intro physics to be fun despite a pretty minimal high school physics course as my only preparation. I thought that the course was taught in such a way that if you could handle the rather straight forward calculus, the concepts were pretty entry level. As with any cumulative scientific discipline, the first intro course really isn’t that tough but it forms the basis for the more advanced coursework to come later.</p>
<p>General Physics I does not assume you have had any previous exposure to Physics so while it might have been helpful to have had a physics course in high school it is not necessary in order to take an introductory level Physics course in college. It will be assumed and required that you have a good background in Math in order to understand the material and do the problems. Since you have already completed two semesters of Calculus the math should not be a problem for you. The thing you will probably find most difficult, which everybody taking a Calculus based Physics course encounters, is applying the mathematical techniques you learned in your Calculus classes to Physics problems.</p>
