ahh, tim, you make me smile lol.

rohan2k6...you are right! they are not overrated anymore!!! Well, actually, I still think they are! A home loss to an unranked FSU??? overrated...:)

was that sarcasm? lol.

okay, maybe just a little overrated...but surely not a bad team.

and seriously i can't help but laugh every time i see oregon uniforms. they are so ugly, even though there is some "technology" behind them...hahahaha ducks indeed.

ND, just don't lose to Stanford, i'm from NorCal and I would HATE to see that happen. And Duke, too.

i don't like oregon's uniforms either, but they can deal with it, the founder of Nike is an alum, and he just donated 8 M for a new training facility. talk about a program on the rise.

i can't stand people who know nothing about football and say that weis is a terrible coach. no he will not be fired--ND will be good again next year and all the stupid fickle fans will love him again. were there questionable calls made by him? yes, but he knows his team better than any of us do; if he was sure brandon walker wouldn't have made that field goal, then i guarantee brandon walker wouldn't have made that field goal.

i couldn't believe people were putting their middle fingers from their foreheads instead of the W at the end of the game! i was seriously about to hit someone! i didn't think ND students were that fickle. right after the classiness of the alma mater being sung together and the students giving navy's alma mater applause, the students go and do that? ****es me off!

and how does someone who turned the program around the past 2 years (i think set the record for most wins in first 2 years as coach) all of a sudden become a terrible coach? you people don't know what you're talking about!? things you do have reasons behind them... that fake field goal--charlie probably saw something screwed up in their field goal unit... he stays up all night every night just watching film and game planning--everything done on the field has a reason behind it that fans know nothing about!! he can't execute plays for them

ughhh ok i'm done ranting, sorry if i offended anyone!

I agree with pretty much each and everythin jvon said

these are all really interesting points. however, i'll make a generalization (JUST a generalization) about the events of the game as if I were there.

perhaps the booing wasn't really DIRECTED at charlie weis during the overture, maybe it was more at the band. maybe it was more of a "***" response from the student section because they were just like, "why should we cheer for him after he just gambled away this important game."

its nice that some of you really stand by your coach and have faith in his intentions. but sometimes you have to be somewhat realistic - there isn't 100% sincerity on his part. He is taking risks that ND football can't afford to take.

And its taking its toll on the team, as I have said before. There is a lack of leadership. These are just straight facts. But you guys can pull it together.

Charlie is safe for this year... thanks to Ty W.

Money isn't the issue, as I am sure there are some ND alums that would cut the check right now... money isn't a factor..

With Ty W they jumped the gun and were heavily ridiculed for it. With Charlie, he has this year. Next year, if they don't come out of the gate strong, he won't last the season..

Charlie should call Ty and say thanks...

ND is going to give him more than a fair chance because they didn't do it with the guy before him. One extreme to the other, they listened to the boosters before and got really bad press (for nd) and now they are trying not listening at all.

There are good coaches and good recruiters. I don't think Charlie is a bad coach as his history doesn't show that. However I don't know how good of a recruiter he is...

"There is a lack of leadership. These are just straight facts."

haha how do you know what kind of leader he is? are you there in the locker room and at practices? He might not be a good leader, but the fact is that none of us fans know so I'm gonna give him the benefit of the doubt after leading us to BCS games

"If the Midshipmen needed to be reminded of their 43-game losing streak to the Fighting Irish, the longest drought against one opponent in NCAA history, they got it when their team buses stopped at a toll booth outside South Bend, Ind., only hours before the game at Notre Dame Stadium.

Kaipo-Noa Kaheaku-Enhada

Matt Cashore/US Presswire

Navy had 43 years worth of celebrating to do when it beat Notre Dame.

A Fighting Irish fan in a car next to the buses rolled down his window and taunted the Midshipmen.

"This car pulled up beside us and this guy was hanging out the window, yelling, "Forty-four in a row! Forty-four in a row!" Johnson said. "I just started laughing. It was a grown man falling out of his window." "

yo irish, real class huh?

idk who the "irish" is that you are talking to, but i'm not so sure this "grown man" reflects the class of the school

If you're going to quote an article, please give us a complete citation. It's the classy thing to do. Also, you can't use one individual as a counterexample to the character of Our Lady's University. We were silent for, and then cheered after, the Navy Alma Mater. There were no unclassy (that I heard) cheers against Navy. One fan does not unmake our reputation for being among the most hospitable fans in the country.

and i wouldn't even classify that as "unclassy"... it's not like the guy was swearing at the navy guy. there are certainly a lot worse things to say that "44 in a row"

Dear ND Faithful,
From one of our USNA parent's who attended the game...

+++++++++++++++++++++
I want to mention how gracious and respectful the Notre Dame players and fans were to the Navy team and Navy fans.

This season, ND fans would have had a right to feel bitter. But, more than once, ND fans came over to congratulate us, and also to mention how well-treated they have felt whenever they have attended Navy-ND games on Navy's home turf.

In a world where our culture has been coarsened and questionable sportsmanship seems rampant in the NCAA, I would like to tip my hat to Notre Dame and their fans.

Class and good sportsmanship start from the top: I hope Coach Weis has success in bringing ND football back to their former glory, that is, except where Navy is concerned.
+++++++++++++++++++++++

haha, there you go! anyone see mike and mike in the morning today where golic talked about the respect and class ND always gives Navy and all the academies? and (if you didn't know) he played for ND so i think he knows best! :] golic's the man

haha I did actually watch that

It helps that golic went to ND, and his son will be in my class next year

ND will lose to Duke. lol.

Rohan "perhaps the booing wasn't really DIRECTED at charlie weis during the overture, maybe it was more at the band"

Your kidding right, unfortunately the Band has been the best part of most of our Saturday's.

Go Irish... win or lose we are still ND........ Its not only just about football.

I want to echo gentrysdad, post #35 above. It was the first ND game my husband and I have attended. S is a freshman. "Classy" is exactly the phrase we kept using, both for the ND students, the fans, and the USNA folks who were there. We have been continually impressed with the behavior, respect, and manners we see from the students when we visit S at ND. The USNA students we saw acted exactly the same way.

Don't want flamed, so don't do it please, but we've been to a few Purdue games, and our our descriptive word there is "drunkfest". I'm not a blind parent and my S shares too much info; I know drinking is going on in no small amount at ND. Just a different atmosphere I guess, but one with which we are very pleasantly pleased.
