Well I studied my ass off, and took 2 courses + studied on my own with the book and got only a 1480, 530R 490M 460W. If you studied/didn't study for the test and got above the 50 percentile, be grateful, you're one of the lucky ones.

it happens. take the ACTs. i hear if you are a good student, they are much easier to get a good score on

I'm sure you can study over the summer and get a better score on the October exam, a lot of people here at CC are.

Don't sweat it, I'm guessing you didn't care that your parents were paying for those two classes and probably forcing you to study. I'd stay, get dedicated now, and bring up those SATs.

If you're below the 50% mark, you can bring up your scores by at least 100 points in each section.

Right now, I'm 98%. I went from 76%, so yeah, it's possible.

You are not alone.

Don't feel bad, I know a girl who got a 1200, on the NEW SAT. She was looking at colleges and saw that most people who got accepted had around 1200s. I didn't have the heart to tell her that the 1200 people got was out of 1600, not 2400 like hers. Just think, even if you are at like the 40th percentile, you did better than 40% of the people taking it. So even if you don't have the score you wish, a lot of people are in the same boat, and even worse off, as you are.

sat prep is definitely a situation where you want to "work smarter, not harder." (i hate cliches, but this one is appropriate.) you've already put in way more time than was probably necessary. i'd recommend you relax, re-evaluate, and focus more on the test's design than on subject matter.

it's not about how many hours you put in. it's all about how effective your method is. hang in there. try again, and don't get discouraged.

I second the recommendation to take the ACT. The ACT tests your knowledge of a subject, not your reasoning skills, so studying for the ACT will yield much better results than studying for the SAT, in my opinion.

Testing practice ACT(I'm a total Math Science head)

Straight 36's in subscores in 10 practice tests zero prep

SAT high 1600-low 1700's how s that for a testing gap? MONTHS of prep

Makes zero sense to me. My ACT scores reflect my GPA-->4.0

i was also disappointed because i took the PR course and i still did horribly
i got 1670.

It's very refreshing to see a post from people who did not score 800s.

^^^^ i agree with that; it's nice seeing more realistic scores

I wish it was an 800, but at least we know he isn't lying. Unlike many people on this site.

Well I reckon you guys will be seeing a lot of me since its been brought to my attention that even though I'll be a senior I can still take the SAT in the fall then apply with those new scores. I'll prolly be posting questions mostly math related in the raising your SAT score section. I'm still ticked off my score was low. I have to admit though I may have studied for long hours, but like someone mentioned its the quality of the study. Still even with some study I would have liked to be at least average. I can't change my IQ but my score is goin up!

Best of luck to all of you.

i'll be taking them in october again too... good luck!

I know exactly how you feel. I studied for about five months for my first SAT in June, and I got a 1550. Hopefully, God willing, I'll work hard in the summer so I can bring that score to a 2100 or up. I focused more on Math, so my Critical Reading stunk, and I barely timed myself at all (even though I'm horrible when it comes to time. 25 minutes?! Agh!).

But don't feel bad though! We could all make our scores shoot through the sky if we put our heart into it (too bad studying isn't exactly something we always enjoy - especially in the summertime! X_x) I believe I could bring up my score big time in October.

In Math I was around the 350-430 range when I first started studying (I also got a 41 in Math on the PSAT - which would of been a 410 on the actual thing). My PSAT score was a 137 - again, 1370 on the real SAT.

Guess what?

I improved about 100 points in Math on the June SAT - 510 (D: I would've done BETTER if I just answered more questions!). My Critical Reading still didn't budge, but hey! I could change that around. So my hardwork paid off in some way, and I'm sure it will for you too!

I'm taking the SAT again in October as well. Summer studying - boo!

Yes, I also agree - it's nice to actually see realistic scores around here. I usually see scores that are 2300s and above.

And yes, it IS true - it's not how LONG you study - it's how EFFICIENT you are AT studying. (I've learned from this experience. XP)
