Hello everyone,
I am currently an undergraduate freshman at Univeristy of Hawaii Manoa and it has been a great choice for the most part. For the price, the school is a great deal for someone who wants to study biology like myself. Their oceanography and marine bio departments are ranked quite high and from personal experience so far, they have been very engaging. Unfortunately, not all aspects of this school are great, and it is most visible in the quality of instruction for non-science classes, the very low requirements for admission, and the condition of much of the campus, which is in desperate need of renovation. I digress... but to the point....
I am looking to transfer into UC Santa Barbara to continue studying marine biology. I was wondering if anyone knows the procedure for checking which classes will transfer from UHM and which requirements I should fulfill while I'm here. I have already placed out of many of the introductory science classes thanks to my science AP scores. I don't really have any grades at the moment, but if I maintain my grades as I am doing now, I should be very close to a 4.0. I am also hoping to build strong ec's by writing for the school's newspaper, volunteering, and hopefully getting some internships at a local science aquarium. To broaden my question a little more, do you guys have any recommendations on how to maximize my chances of getting into UCSB as a transfer student from Hawaii? Should I also start thinking about taking the SAT again?

Ignore mentions of IGETC and Assist.org as they do not apply to you.
