Thinking of going to a Jersey public state school?(Rutgers,TCNJ,etc)

<p>Just to let you know if you applied to a New Jersey public state school or plan to attend next fall prepare for a MAJOR increase in tuition. Not to debate politics but the budget just cut a huge amount of money from higher education(Cause sending it to people who barely work seems better than people trying to improve there lives... right....). Anyway i'm sure other jersey residents know this but if your out of state just a heads up. Not sure if this takes effects this fall or next.</p>

<p>Of the $2.7 billion in state budget cuts proposed by Corzine, $63 million will be pulled from senior public colleges and universities; county colleges will see a decrease of $11 million; and support for private colleges will fall by $2 million.

<p>Rutgers University was also hit hard by the proposal, with a $38 million decrease from last year's state contributions.</p>

<p>That is a 500 million dollar cut in one year, it is likely that much of this will come at the cost of Rutgers. So yes, more cuts in addition to last year's massive cuts.</p>

<p>This is an e-mail McCormick sent to the campus; apparently the cuts are not set in stone (they are voting for it this week actually), but it is likely that Rutgers will face more budget cuts. Hopefully the legislature can get Rutgers some more money!</p>
