Thinking of majoring in ME, But What should I do?

Hi, I’m currently an international high school graduate who is preparing for admission of a local community college here in the US(Austin, TX)… I’m also considering to get transferred into a four-year college afterwards and am thinking of majoring in Mechanical Engineering (a.k.a. ME) for my BS degree… But there are few other concerns that I’ve been worrying of: I’m not a math/physics wise person… I mean, I actually did very well at these subjects back home, but my high school was just two years of curriculum and I’ve just realized two years in high school weren’t just enough to fit in the field of study…smh. And I’ve been told by people that ME courses are excruciatingly tough… The problem is that I hadn’t even studied Calculus before… But self-studying it… Now that being said, I’m not even a math wizard. I know it might be a silly, hard question for you guys to answer… but, what would be my odds of surviving in engineering based on your opinion and experience when a case like mine is given? Will taking math(maybe Calculus I) and science courses(Physics, Chem.) at CC be a great chance to get my feet wet for engineering? And. Sure, I’m very motivated and am going to put LOTS, LOTS of efforts into making above 3.5 of GPA during my years at CC. Any thoughtful advises and responses I really do appreciate. Thanks.

It’s hard to say until you’ve taken some more math, including calculus, differential equations, and/or linear algebra.

It won’t necessarily get your feet wet in engineering, but it wil teach you the fundamentals necessary to study engineering. If you’re able to do well in these classes, then there’s a good chance you’ll succeed in engineering courses. The fact that you’ve done well in math, even if you haven’t taken a lot of it, bodes well, as well as the fact that you’ve been studying calculus on your own.
