This essay...

I am still mulling over the CMC essay. I was thinking of doing King Leopold II. However, I am hesitant because he was responsible for the deaths of ~12 million people in the Congo—I wanted to advise him in a manner that would make him not kill all these people, but I feel like I'm basically advising someone like Hitler...it doesn't seem very politically correct. Would it be a bit risky to do such a thing?

I struggled hard with this essay writing about everyone from Martin Luther King jr. to Hitler. I finally made peace when I decided to write about someone who actually inspired me and who had a problem (/made a decision) that personally affected my life. Because the person I chose hit so close to home I like to believe that the essay spoke a little more about me, which is the ultimate goal. What I see a lot of people are forgetting is that although this is an analytical essay, its still a college essay. The Admission Officers are trying to get to know you, to see whether you would be a good addition to campus, and although a dissertation about Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (president of Iran) shows political prowess, it might not show much about you as a person.
