I have a question.. I have taken the ACT with writing in dec and got a writing score i am happy with... do I have to retake the writing part if I don't like the rest of my score or can't I just send the score from dec so the college will take the writing part and send another score report for ACT I've taken later but I like the composite score better? I know the explanation is kind of confusing, but i guess my question is, is the writing part a completely separate thing??

I'm pretty sure you cannot separate the writing test from the ACT test as a whole. I'll let somebody else confirm, but it seems very unlikely. The very fact that you can't take the writing test separately supports this.

the writing is specific to that act only.. you can't detach it from that ACT put it on the next one.. which is unfortunate

ahhh that sucks. I'll have to take the ACT + writing in June then. Extra money..
Well, that's why I think the SAT is much better.
