This is cool

So, I really really do need advice. I am a to be Senior...

I would like to go just go to a college, preferably UC Berkeley or UC Los Angeles because I do live in California

My GPA cummulative is a 3.85 unweighted and my SAT I score is a 2310.
My SAT II's are Math: 760 and Biology: 690 (retaking in November), Spanish :710

I didn't take AP courses my Junior Year (big mistake, I had personal family medical problems, that affected me directly) , I did however take 2 honors classes.

I have over 1,000 hours of Community Service hours and I am currently finishing a small book that I have tried to write over the course of my High School career. It is about how to balance two cultures while trying to fit into your own.

I have worked with mentally disabled children in India (my homeland; though I was born here), and had an article published. I set up a dance show and sent all the proceeds towards the shelter in India that I helped at, the funtion was actually held at Berkeley.

I am also a Kathak Dancer, I have been doing that for 12 years now, and I have been able to work with the top most dancer of that industry.

Is there a possibility of me even getting into Berkeley or Los Angeles? Am I just wasting my time? Should I start looking at State schools? I will be the first one in my family to go to a college in the United States.

Thank you.

I failed to mention that I am Mock Trial Captain, Vice President of the Speech and Debate Club, President of a South Asian Cultural Club, Vice Preisdent of a Spiritual Club, i hold office in about 4 other smaller clubs. Active member in Model United Nations, have been in Play Production (the highest Theatre Arts offered at our school) for two years.

I have also won numerous awards in academics and was recognized as Student of the Month not only by my school, but also by the City in which I live. I am active in my City, I am involved with the council. I have set up workshops in my neighborhood in which I am able to talk to kids on reasons to stay away from drugs, with the preteens, I talk about sex and abstinence. I write occasionally for the local paper as a guest writer. Lastly, I went to a Leadership program in Washington D.C. in which a selected few students were chosen to attend. The Program was the National Youth Leadership Conference. I don't know if that would be of any use to me because though they were "selected' students, there were a LOT of them.

Thank you once again!

could you really be asking for your chances at UCs in state with a 3.85 and a 2310???

niti:

UCB/UCLA: Match

Agreed with ckmets. I've half a mind to say something sarcastic like.. community college would be a huge reach for you. =P

Niti,

Yes, you've got excellent chances at UCB and UCLA.
