This Is Us. Anyone watching?

@doschicos, yes that is true, he isn’t doing what Jack did and buying a car we didn’t discuss beforehand. I just meant the actual point of negotiation is all him. It actually makes me cringe to listen to him, he is relentless!! I have literally hung with the kids playing in the cars in the showroom exactly like Rebecca did.

So have we seen the kids in their 20s? The show has focused on present day and their childhood up until the fire.

I feel like there was one episode where we may have seen some clips of them in their 29s but no real storylines.

Will the writers explore life in college or young adulthood? And young widowhood for Rebecca?

@surfcity, they need some material for next year!

Yes, there was an episode when they were in their 20s.

In my family, I am the one to make killer deals while DH gets to play “good cop.” It works as the dealer doesn’t usually expect the woman to be the negotiator.

Still getting caught up. But I thought the episode on Kate’s and Toby’s miscarriage was well done. The thing that’s different about this show is that it plays out the love and guidance passed on from generation to generation. I keep thinking after I’m gone, I hope my kids will pass on some of the lessons I learned from my own parents. So much heartache in the human condition, and we’re not even talking about school shootings and tiny children tweeting about war in Damascus.

I didn’t know that Sterling Brown was in the Black Panther until I was watching the movie. Seems like he is picking up a number of roles/appearances.

Same ^, saw Black Panther yesterday and said a “No…not Randall” in my head, hard to stay thoroughly enjoying the scene(s) when he and Andy Serkis (a.k.a. Gollum) initially appeared

Sterling Brown will be hosting SNL on March 10.

I’m happy that people are enjoying Sterling Brown. He’s been working steadily since probably 2002 yet it took American Crime Story when he played Christopher Darden to make him a 41 year old ‘overnight success’. Good for him.

SKB was fantastic as a psychiatrist and civilian husband of a high ranking Army officer in Army wives, as well as adoptive or foster parent to a child with HIV. He was very credible in that role from someone who is both psychiatrist and was AD Army for a number of years. The actress who plays Kate is also superb. Has she done anything else?

Never saw American Crime Story, sounds like I should see if I can

  • Edited to add Army Wives to the should see list

Just saw “super bowl” episodes and was curious about The Beautiful Reward song Jack played in the car. ( and the family went to Bruce concert so thought it was interesting)
What a perfect song to portray jack’s life -

Here is article- Bruce discusses this song and Paradise which follows.

Ten years ago, the Lucky Town album concluded with “Souls Of The Departed” and “My Beautiful Reward,” two songs distinctly preoccupied with the afterlife. “Well this is a prayer for the souls of the departed/Those who’ve gone and left their babies brokenhearted,” he sang in the former.{/quote]

Since music is such an important part of the “super bowl” episode, I was curious about the song Jack played in the car.

@alwaysamom Thanks for pointing out that Sterling Brown had played Christopher Darden! I kept feeling as if I recognized him from something else but could never pin it down, and now you’ve solved the riddle for me!

@preppedparent Could not agree more about the tissues. Only for my gf and I it was more lie a beach towel…each. Lol. We binge watched Season 1 recently, AFTER watching “A Walk To Remember” and “The Fault In Our Stars.” I don’t I have ever cried that much in one setting, or enjoyed it as much…lol.

^^^Wait to you watch season 2. Bring out the towels.

What did Kate just say to Randall’s wife (Beth) in the batchelorette party? I didn’t hear it.

That Randall always made it clear that Beth came first. Which is how it should be to me.
