@123Mom456 - I actually took it as a very realistic look at a typical child’s world view. At that age, children are especially egocentric (and one might argue that Kevin remained so even as adult). For example, children often blame themselves when their parents divorce.
In this instance, Kevin no longer had a concern about his parents’ breaking up, so it was time to go to bed (or perhaps, as mentioned above, to prepare for the meteor shower on the roof), or just generally get on with his evening.
All the kids were sent to bed when it turned out the oven had not been turned on and it was really late. I didn’t think he bailed on cooking.
Agree with abasket that it was great to see Beth wanting to enjoy Vegas and let loose after such a stressful time between Randall quitting his job, losing his dad, having and losing Deja and buying the building.
Finally, slogged through to the episode where Jack dies. Could that have been dragged out any longer? It just bugged me to quit before the “climax,” such as it was. The show does nothing for me, so I’m done.
Vast majority of show up until this point have been about the Big 3, Jack and Rebecca. It can’t be about them all the time. And they still have at least one more season to go.
Was interesting to me how they started with the birth of the Big 3 and Deja and how much influence the accident of birth has on a person’s life. Path of Kate and Kevin’s lives were different at birth from the others based on the family into which they were born. Randall’s life could have been much like Deja’s had he not been adopted by Jack and Rebecca. Deja’s life would have been much different if she had been birth to parents like Jack and Rebecca or adopted. You understand the challenges kids face growing up with less than ideal parents but still difficult to image some of the things we saw last night.
