This Is Us. Anyone watching?

I think it was Jack’s screwdriver in Kate’s bouquet. But I would need to watch it again and see everything that Kevin and Randall had on the table to be sure.

I enjoyed the wedding, the toasts, the “exhale”, but I am uneasy about the future. Especially Toby.

I wonder who Randall was talking about to adult Tess in the flash forward there at the end. Beth? Deja?

I was thinking Deja…but maybe Beth…somebody that Tess has had some struggles and unresolved issues with.

But, man - I totally missed the thing with the bouquet…

I missed what she had in the bouquet too, but Deja sure found a use for the baseball bat.

Orignally, I thought Tess and Randall were talking about Deja. Then I thought it could be Beth, or even Rebecca, who could be in a nursing home at that point.

I’v learned to take previews with a grain of salt since they often turn out to be different than what we think they portend.

Seems like they want us to think they were going to see Deja because the Randall/Tess flash forward was happening while we were seeing Deja smash Randall’s beloved Mercedes. But I agree the show throws a lot of curveballs. At one point we thought Jack possibly died in a drunk driving accident going to chance down Rebecca signing on the road. Then when we learned it was the fire we thought possibly it was caused by the faulty fuse box. Lots of head fakes. Gets you thinking about the possibilities and looking forward to the next show. Think its intentional?

I’m going to miss this show. Fall seems far away. When Kate said that Toby wasn’t in her dream, I thought she was going to bolt and am so glad she didn’t. I’m not one who tends to over analyze TV shows since they are, after all, fiction and meant to entertain, but Jack died YEARS earlier. Randall’s toast seemed pretty weird in that it seemed much more appropriate as an intimate nuclear family experience rather than at a wedding with all the guests. And I definitely wouldn’t feel good if I were Miguel…

And Deja…sigh. That’s tough. I liked how Beth’s cousin (can’t recall her name but it looks like she becomes Kevin’s gf) said something about hating or taking your hate out on those who love you most. It almost worked.

I also loved, “You’re not in the way. You are the way.”

I’m a little nervous that Beth and the youngest daughter have not been seen in any of the future shots. Please tell me I missed them. Hasn’t there been enough sorrow in this family? I’m not sure how much more I can take.

I liked the conversation between Kevin and Randall in the car, playing the worst case scenario game. I liked Toby confronting his parents. I loved Kate’s dress and how beautiful and happy she looked.

One thing that drives me just a little bit crazy with this show is the constant drama. It’s like a minute can’t go by without them injecting something that is almost certainly going to cause trouble. It’s manipulative and it’s lazy writing, in my opinion. And it’s already starting for next season, for Pete’s sake!

I still have a big problem with Kate’s weight - both on the show and in real life. That level of obesity just isn’t OK and I thought it was accentuated in the wedding dress. I thought she was supposed to be losing weight?

I loved the “worst case scenario” game. Both with Randall and Beth and Randall and Kevin. The actress that plays Kate does not seem to be losing weight, and I thought I heard last year that losing weight was written into her contract.

I think the writers are playing this “worst case scenario” game.

Deja goes back to her mother.

Deja gets to live with Randall and Beth, but takes out her anger on the family.

AND

Kate decides not to marry Toby.

Kate marries Toby, who then becomes severely depressed.

Kate’s weight cannot be an issue. I mean, the character has struggled with it her whole life. We can’t also make it an issue for her. It is what it is. It is just a part of her and I don’t want any changes nor expect change.

I think that Randall and Tess were going to visit Tess in prison.

@oregon101 Did you mean Deja? But why are we only seeing Randall and Tess?

Maybe Randall and Tess were the only ones who were willing to have a relationship with Deja, if that’s who they were talking about. Also, didn’t their conversation take place at Tess’ place of work, so why would anyone else be there?

Kate’s weight certainly CAN be an issue. She is morbidly obese. Plus sized is one thing, but the inability to do what she needs to do to lose a significant amount of that weight for her own health and well-being bothers me a great deal. The weight is an issue in the show and has been since the beginning, but it’s time for the real person and the character to lose weight.

I understand that she had an emotional issue that caused a weight problem after her father dies life but I don’t think it is realistic that a child born of two thin parents would have the bone structure that she did as a child. It don’t think girl who played her as a younger child was believable However the girl who played her as a teen was perfect.

Randall is not wearing a wedding ring in the future :’(

Also, I found it most unbelievable that the mother of the bride didn’t have her dress picked out until the day before!

I really enjoyed this episode. I loved Kate’s dress, and the conversation with her Rebecca. Did you catch when Rebecca was saying all those nice things and Kate said “but”? I really feel for Rebecca more in their relationship because It seems she really tries. The speeches were great, but Randall’s resonated more since I like my life to be controlled and orderly.

I especially love the cliffhangers.

I had a first cousin who weighed 500 lbs. he was like Kate. He died at age 42 because he got some sort of an infection and while in the hospital, they couldn’t get the drugs to work properly, or as quickly because of the fat. It was 1984, and I don’t remember a lot other than if he hadn’t be obese it would have worked. She needs to have bariatric, if for these types of things alone.
