This may be a stupid question but.........

can you talk about the SAT in an SAT essay? This is probably irrelevant considering that the essay tomorrow will be completely different but I just wanted to get a general opinion to see if mentioning the SAT is the essay section would be weird.

I was practicing an essay today, and the question was, "Do you think that ease does not challenge us and that we need adversity to hep us discover who we are?"

I discussed the SAT, and I talked about how colleges use it to get a general understanding students and also how they use it to differentiate qualified/unqualified students. I said that if it were written to be easy for everyone, the criterion of all the universities would be irrelevant and unnecessary. And my concluding sentence was about how the scores reflect a student's performance in the face of adversity and thus allows him/her to stand out against others.

I would just like a general opinion on my argument and if it would be okay if this was a real SAT essay. Thanks! and GOOD LUCK to everyone testing tomorrow :)

I would say this would merit a generally weak example. Especially if your whole essay discussed only this (your post was unclear if this was the only example, or one of multiple examples). From what I’ve read on the SAT essay, I would say talk about or 2 or 3 examples, and that these examples typically carry more weight if they are from more credible sources like newspapers, books etc, instead of just a student’s understanding of the SAT.

okay that helps a lot, thanks!
