This website made me scared

After looking around and posting a few times on this website, I was really scared because most people were saying that schools I thought were safe bets were actually reaches for me. I thought I had good test scores (1980, 32) but I saw so many people with far better. I thought I had an okay GPA (3.28 weighted) but I saw so many people with like 4.2s and so on. Then, after some time of wondering if I would get into college at all, I had a revelation. The people who frequent this site are people who are serious about their college careers, and usually that requires having some venerable test scores and grades. The people with 2.7 GPAs and 1540 SATs (usually) don't spend enough time on their college futures as their more successful peers. I realize that this is a blanket statement and I'm sure that there are exceptions, but my point still stands. I guess what I'm trying to say is you guys ruined my self-confidence hahaha damn you all for being smarter, or at least having a better work ethic, than me.

Now that I have finished my rant, I realize that this post has no point... so I'll close with a question: What is your safety school?

Be confident I’m going through the same thing but worrying and freaking out isn’t going to help anybody :)

Your standardized rest scores are good on any measure! And GPAs are so varied among high schools, so it’s hard to say that a 4.2 at one school is much better than a 3.2 at another. My school, for example, is almost impossible to get above a 4.1. Others, it’s not that big of a deal for a 4.6. Teachers and schools grade differently, simple as that.

Plus, the people that are crazy high GPAs probably don’t spend very much time outside of school. Probably another blanket statement, like you mentioned, but it’s good to think about it.

You’re fine,
