How do you people have such high gpas?

How is it even possible. I mean I'm not lookin to go to Harvard or w/e but wheres a place for someone like me? Some people on this seem so well rounded, though a lot seem to be exaggerating a little bit and bragging.

Most of those who visit this site are computer wizards who are expert at hacking into their high school's computers to change their grades.

Seriously, don't be overly concerned at some of the impressive GPA's claimed on this board. Most are probably being honest but this site particularly attracts a lot of students who do intend to apply to Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Stanford and others in that ilk. You don't need those super GPA's to qualify for most colleges.

Roughly 70-80% of the people on this board are nerds who do nothing but study. Brilliant to the point of being socially inept is a phrase that could be applied generally. Congratulations on not being one of them. shrug

Some school's GPA system is inflated. Maybe your school is just too hard to get high marks? Maybe you are taking really challenging courses?
Really, there are lots of reasons.

I do my homework. Senioritis is killing me though...

The GPAs are all off because different schools weight GPAs in different ways.

At my school, youre top 10 in the class with a 3.8. And those kids are mad smart. And maybe our school does weigh it diffferently. It's private. If that has anything to with it.

We work hard

And the key to our success is:
Practice, practice, practice

We talkin bout practice, not a game. not a game. Not a GAme. Practice.

Some people are just born smahtuh than others!

(I have 'only' a 3.8.)

I actually just roll the dice for my multiple choice exams. Has never failed me once.

Except that time I got an essay question.

I hear you are the sole reason CollegeBoard added the writing section with an essay to the SAT Reasoning Test.

lol.. i was actually very surprised when i saw my final gpa.. only our final class grades get counted into our gpa, so u could get two quarter b's and still eek out an A..

... which i did for almost all my classes. I think i set the record for highest amount of B's for my GPA. i got a whooping 11 my freshman year.

i thought a dice had 6 sides - and i thot multiple choice usually have 4-5 options ???

how can you be fair with that?

1 = A
2 = B
3 = C
4 = D
5 = E
6 = Bubble all of them

And sometimes, I bubble all of them regardless of what I get. Just for kicks.

Always turns out to be the correct answer, by the way.

love it! hahaha

Do you guys have 'scantron' bubble tests? Well, there's a certain bubble you can mark somewhere on the top (I forget now) which marks it as the key. I did that once and I was the only person who got a 100...while most of the other people mustered a C...

My physics teacher wasn't amused!

haha, i was always suspicious about that option.

Hey Tor,
Don't worry about it. My kids all did their own thing and have done fine. In fact not one of my 3 studied for SAT (the oldest one started this theory that if you have to study for the score, that's not who you really are and therefore will go to a school you are not a good match for). Who knows, maybe it worked for them. Everyone is different and that's what makes the world interesting. One of my kids refused to ever take a honors course (why work harder?) and he did great in college and has a wonderful job, wife, and owns his own home at 25. The youngest worked hard in school, but went to a tougher college and is not enjoying his social life near as much as his brother did. GPAs are just numbers and certainly not a measure of quality of life or happiness!
