those blank lines

So when we're doing our apps we see those couple of blank lines asking if we have anything else to say - now of course we all want to stay I REALLY WANT TO GO THERE PICK ME!! but does anyone have any suggestions for what to put there? Has anyone put something there and been successful? Feedback is appreciated, and good luck to all of you waiting to APril to find out.

I looked up the application (not applying this year, I'm a freshman), and I thought about the time that I decided I wanted to go to ND. But mine was kind of special. I was eight years old and I was on fall vacation watching TV with my dying grandfather (cancer). He is a life long ND fan, and he turned on the ND football game. The gold helmets and the atmosphere and everything about that game made it love at first sight. He saw me memorized by the TV so he told me all about the university. That is when I knew I wanted to go there. It was one of the last moments we shared together because he died a few days later.

Not too shabby of a story for me to put in those lines, eh?

That section isn't going to make you or break you. I'm sure almost every one of them ND receives is about how much he/she wants to go to the school. Personally, I wrote it about a passion that I didn't write my essay on/didn't show anywhere else. Don't think it really has a large impact.

That section is for information you want to send but there isn't really any other category for it on the application.

My son listed some quirky circumstances about his GPA, since we moved and he changed high schools during his sophomore year and the new school didn't weight his freshman upper level classes. He also said that, if accepted, he would attend ND; that while not a legacy, his grandfather and uncle were ND grads, and that his eagle scout requirements were fulfilled but he just hadn't had the ceremony and award yet. I'm sure almost everyone has things they want to get on there or explain - this is the place for it!

I wrote a little in the lines. I talked about a passion like project86ist did that wasn't on really my app. It was just a little addition about me.
