So, I seemed to have some free time and I got to thinking, after HYP, what school do you guys think is up there? Obviously I realize I am posting under the Brown thread lol, but all bias aside (hopefully) what do you guys think when Brown is compared to the other ivies, mainly UPenn, Cornell…heck lets throw in Columbia & Dartmouth too. (this thread is a repeat-there is one just like it in the UPenn fourm)

All are great schools, however, compared with prospective students input along with experiences that current students have had at these universities, how would you feel these schools compare academically, socially and in terms of having the best opportunity to succeed after college?

if you’re going wholly by prestige/reputation/whatever, then I think it’s pretty silly to try ranking them as their prestige varies depending on who you talk to and what field you are talking about. I often hear my dad elevating Columbia above the other middle ivies and implying that it fits in more with HYP, but then again, he went to Columbia lol.

In the most general sense, I think you could group them into three tiers, with the order within the tiers not mattering, which would be

but then you get into tricky issues based on what you want to study. Cornell probably has a better engineering department than Yale. Some would say UPenn’s Wharton undergrad is equally as prestigious as HYP… so basically, your question is unanswerable.
