thoughts about getting an SAT tutor?

I need an SAT tutor for reading vocab and comprehension, and writing essays.

Should I get a tutor?

If not, what do you recommend to self-study?

it really depends on what you think will be more helpful to you. if the tutor is something you can afford then go for it. usually sylvan and kumon learning centers offer tutoring for the SATs. Sometimes even the local library has ads for people (students teaching students) that offer lessons for cheap. if you don’t want to go that path and you want a book i really like the cliff notes series they offer good tips and strategies to help you or Kaplan is good as well. There is also flashcards you can buy that you can use on the go!good luck! study hard but remember to not over do it :)

Honestly, I think the tutors are only effective as you make them to be. You have to dedicate yourself into those tutoring sessions or else they will be a waste of money. If you are willing to put in the effort then I would say go for it. I’m pretty sure your scores could go up about a few hundred points.

I think it depends on the type of student you are. Do you learn best when someone helps you? Or do you learn best by independently studying? Getting a tutor for reading comprehension might not be as helpful, since your tutor might catch all the main points while you might just follow along.

I don’t push myself to self-study that often, because I’m a procrastinator. So, I probably could use a tutor. I’ll see how it goes, and if it’s not helping, I’ll somehow try to self-study.
