THOUGHTS? COLLEGE

Any thoughts or have any of you been or are in a community college in L.A and are then going to transfer after 2 years? Is your community college good? I want to move to L.A and go to a cc there, then uni but are the community colleges good out there? Please share your experience and review of it if you are currently in L.A at a school. Thanks!

Also, are community colleges more expensive in LA?

Are you from out of state or International?

@Gumbymom out of state.

If you are OOS, you will be paying OOS fees at the CCC’s until or if you even can establish residency in California. If you come to California for the sole purpose of an education, you will not establish residency and will pay OOS for your 4 years of college especially if you are under 24 and not considered independent.

Here is some information from Santa Monica College (SMCC). This CCC is very popular due to its proximity to UCLA and its transfer rate.

I don’t know particularly about the Los Angeles community colleges, but what I hear overall, and it’s certainly true in the San Francisco area, that the community colleges are overwhelmed with students, it’s very difficult to get the classes you want/need, and it often takes more than two years.
