Hi, I'm a high school junior living in North Carolina, and I am really interested in Appalachian State University. I attended their Open House last year and immediate got that good feeling.

I would just like to know some thoughts you all may have about the university. I could (and have) read stats and student reviews about App State all day but after a while my head starts buzzing; I'm much more interested in someone directly telling me their opinions and experiences with the school -- I've asked my friends, but they just say, "I wouldn't want to go there because everyone else from here does."

I would visit again and maybe interview some students but I'm going to be extremely busy in the coming weeks (and during most of my summer). I will definitely visit again this fall, though.

Thanks!

I’ve never known anyone who went to Appalachian and didn’t like it! There is a young man who used to post, DavidSaab (I don’t remember whether that was his whole user name), who was going to start Appalachian this year. If you can find any of his former posts, you could send him a message and see whether he’s around any more.

FYI: It appears that DavidSSaab is now going by Davidabb84.

Andrew1223…Both my kids have friends who are at/went to ASU. By all accounts they all seem very happy at ASU and like Boone. It’s very popular with kids from our area.

I wouldn’t worry about other people saying “everyone goes there”. The same could be said for every big state u. in NC. My kids went to NCSU and ECU with quite a few other students from our h.s. They liked seeing some familiar places around big state u.
With many thousands of students, you won’t need to worry about feeling as if you’re still in h.s. If it feels like the right place for you then you should go.

What you will need is plenty of warm clothes for ASU! Good luck to you.
