Hi guys,

Can I get your thoughts on my tentative schedule for fall? The reason I'm asking is because I'm concerned about the course load.

STATS 220
GEOG 205
COM 201*

One of the reasons I'm worried is because I haven't taken a math class in three years and I've never taken statistics. My major needs a few more math classes, and I was thinking about taking statistics down the line as far as I need in order to fulfill the requirement. I would go back to algebra, but I don't remember a lot of it.
I'm also worried about the course load because I'm thinking about applying for an internship that requires about 25 hours per week. I really don't want to pass it up because it seems like a great fit, and it's paid. Also, I'm working right now, but I'm not lined up for another job when I move. I'm a little nervous about that.

Any thoughts/comments would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!

*I'm hoping to switch this out with an English class, if possible.

If you were decent to good at math and just need a refresher, I’d HIGHLY recommend going through the exercises (and videos) on khanacademy.org. I hadn’t done anything more advanced than figuring out overtime pay in over ten years, and managed to place straight into Calculus after a couple months of starting at the very beginning and working my way through.

Com classes were super easy for me, but getting any English out of the way early is a good idea. Are you planning on working on top of the internship?

Thank you so much for the reply!

I’d say I’m decent at math, but it’s not my strong suit. I’d definitely have my work cut out for me if I wanted to start in UW’s Math 111. The last math class I took (in 2010) transferred as Math 098. So, that’s sort of the background that hopefully explains a little about why I’m conflicted.

I think I’ll look at khanacademy.org. Thanks!
I was also thinking of ordering my textbook early when it arrives at the bookstore in about a week. That will give me about six weeks to get familiar with the material, assuming I don’t procrastinate or forget to do it, ha

Wow, that’s pretty impressive. Nice work!

Thanks for the tip. According to the DARS system, I think I’m missing one more 5 credit English course. It’d be nice to cross it off the to-do list

No, I won’t be working with the internship. I think it’d be too much for me to take on right now. If I do land the internship, I’m hoping to work after the internship is completed. The internship is about 4-6 months.

Again, thank you for all your help!
