Hey guys and gals,

Is there anyone here, or have a friend who has lived at the the International House at UCB? If not by experience, can UCB students speak about what sort of reputation it has? Thanks for any help!

What in particular do you want to know about it? I have a few friends who live there, and they speak quite highly of the overall experience. They aren't too happy with the room sizes in some cases, but overall they view it as a v. enriching experience.

Hey k_twin,

Thanks for responding, I am a transfer app. and I am interest in apply to I-House, if I was admitted to Berkeley. From visiting the website and looking at the I-House video on utube (great vid), it seems like a great community to be living in. I was wondering how would you or your friends describe their I-House experience compare to other on-campus housing options? After reading the various "Berkeley housing" threads on CC, I feel I have a good understanding of the other options but, not I-House yet. I guess, additionally:

-What are some other Pros of living there?
-Other than the small rooms, is there any other thing else that bad about it?
-Whats the community like there?
-How competitive is it to get into I-House?

I was hoping to check out I-House on Cal-day but, it seems like they aren't going to be offering tours there = ( It seems like a hidden gem.

You've got to pay for cable. I was going to live there over summer until I realized that. The only cable I watch is CNN. Given this is an election year, I could not live without CNN, but I wouldn't pay an additional cable fee for it. Many other people are probably in the same boat.
