What do you guys think of transferring from Columbia College to Harvard/Yale? Obviously there is a slight lay prestige/grad school placement boost, but such a move would come at the cost of friends/relationships made at Columbia as well as loosing access to the City and unfinished parts of the Core Curriculum, but would allow the student to get more that traditional college feel/experience life in the residential house/college system.

i think the prestige thing stops existing once youre in the top 10 already, but wanting a more traditional/college feel is competely legitimate. good luck

i used to have a similar concern- applied for transfer to harvard, yale, and stanford from duke.
when transferring into Harvard/Yale from schools just below a tier, i think it is really important to communicate your reasons so that you don’t appear as a prestige whore. not sure if i succeeded in doing that (hopefully i did) but that’s just my 2 cents.

What do you mean by this statement? Do you actually think that there isn’t a huge difference in prestige between Columbia and Harvard?

To the OP: Columbia is an excellent school, but Harvard and Yale are much better. You will only graduate from one college in your life. Why not graduate from the best one possible?
