My No.2 unit is a jr. and getting ready for the next step. Looking for some feed back to give him help when he will need it. He will be applying to the Naval Academy as well as NROTC with Villanova being his No.1. Clearly he will have options C, D, E, etc. set-up in the event the Academy or NROTC does not come around. That being said he takeshis first SAT tomm. It's my understanding that he did quite well on the PSAT which I have no clue how to read compared to the SAT his adm. said they saw his test and would estimate a 190 to 210. What does this mean compared to the SAT.

He is currently a 3.84 GPA and in the top 25% of his class. Many honors and 2 AP classes, varsity lettered 2 to date. He has several vol. hours and many things that most kids have. Leadership in two areas of sports and is working on a leadership project not school related. So where does this put in in regard to Villanova's expectations for a student...

Do tell please... What more will he need?

PSAT converts to SAT x10, you project 1900-2100 which is a very wide range. Looks like stats will place you in the mid-lower range of accepted students and in mid range of enrolled students. A strong 2nd semester of junior year will go a long way to an acceptance.Other factors that are important are essays and recommendations.
Villanova publishes extensive data on enrolled students by year in the common data set. Ignore accepted students data , as many students that use Villanova as a safety school inflate those numbers. FYI , engineering and business school are more competitive on admissions than Liberal Arts &Sciences. PM me if you need more specific information. Good Luck!

Brave Ulysses,

Thank you for the feedback and insight, the links give some really good information. My son’s JR year is going quite well, very strong. I’m not sure if we should worry about the GPA, it has gone up to a 3.86 but it looks like Villanova wants it a little higher. We plan a visit to the school over the winter so he can ask his questions then and see what they say about the GPA. He is loaded with some strong classes this year, he did not want a study hall he took chem along with physics, and pre-cal, he also has an AP US History class. For his Sr. year he is planning to take AP cal, physics and chem. Brave kid but who am I to say know unless I did’t think he could do it.

Cheers!!

As per common data set , average gpa of enrolled students last years admission cycle is 3.86 , so you should be ok there , provided you have strong SAT’S. Keep the grades up , you have a realistic shot at admission.
