Avoid 6-year programs if you can.
Too much student burnout.
Whatās the cost difference?
What other factors (outside of prestige) attracts your DS to Brown?
You will not go wrong with either Rice or Brown.
Thanks. Concerned about location of NJIT otherwise love everything about it. One has to spend 7 years there thatās why little worried
Congratulations!!!
For any big city location, if one practices sensible situational awareness, one should be okay.
Also, if one is feeling unsafe, ask for a police escort service.
Go and visit the location and get your subjective feel for it.
Broad Street in Newark has cleaned up a lot in recent years.
Of course name is playing a big part. Other factors are no MCAT, No GPA requirements
we are OOS for NJ
Thank you. That puts mind at ease. I know Rutgers,NJIT, and one other university there within the few miles radius has over 50,000 students going in and out, and staying there
My S got into GWU BA MD with 25K Scholarship. How is the school.
Anyone else goot into GWU BAMD
njit bsmd is a good option. I would suggest the same.
Congratulations to your kid and the proud family!
GWU/GWU is a good bsmd program and 25K makes it better. Congratulations to your kid and the proud family!
IMO, the main attraction of PLME is that it is a T15 UG school and an IVY league school with brand name!
BSMD programs usually attract students to commit to either not so good UG or not so good Med school for the sake of a (partial/almost) guarantee
Thank you. I dont see much posts on this program
Brand name, reputation are great factors but come at a cost.
MCAT and GPA requirements are not necessarily a plus, especially since PMM, BU, and NJMS requirements are equally easy, and taking MCAT for minimum score may be good for kids in med school IMO
I was forwarded by Rutgers and TCNJ to NJMS and I didnāt receive a call from Rutgers at all and nothing from TCNJ yesterday. This morning, I got an email from TCNJ saying I was admitted to the program! I wonder why I didnāt receive a call or anything
Little disappointing yesterday; Waitlisted at Brown (Rejected PLME) and Rejected at Harvard
Got acceptances from Duke & Columbia
Right now my top three choices in priority (will pass all other acceptances) -
- Duke
- Rice
- BU SMED
Will visit all three before deciding.
We didnāt get a call . Just got an email yesterday from TCNJ.
I would recommended UMKC if you are in-state but cos of OOS itās pretty expensive but not way off the rail when compared with 7-8 years program. Yes, thereās a possibility to burn out but one of my kids went through a 6-year program and did just fine. The trick is for her to understand what sheās getting into and be effective at planning and time management. UMKC also removes the pressure of MCAT from her and thereās 2-years to save so she can move on with the other aspects of her life! Just my two cent!
