Pitt-GAP: The deadline for supplemental essays is Nov 1.

Do you know if student has to be admitted to Pitt’s Honors college to be considered for GAP ? Trying to save time for the honors college essay …

@NoviceDad , @Rali_Jan : Thank you both. Mine got the supplement after 6 days including the weekend.

It depends on the undergrad feeder school.
Most will accept Coalition app.

GAP and Honors programs are two separate programs.
You do NOT have to be in the Honors program to be considered for GAP.

New BSMD program

Manipal’s AUA announces a new batch for its US-based medical program from Oct 10th in Manipal - Times of India (indiatimes.com)

Interesting to see 6 months for Step1.

It is targetted at Indian students.
Since the medical school is in Antigua, these students will be IMG for US residency purposes.

I dont know that Indian students can get rotations as this is structured to do them in US.

You can get rotations as an IMG.
For example, GW and SKMC offer such rotations.

The bigger question is whether you can get the B-1 (in time) for such rotations.

Why do you think it’s targeted for Indian students? I think it’s for NRI kids.

Visa questions is why I am unsure.

If there are American born Indian kids living in India, this works very well for them to come back to US. Most Indians wont take the risk to expect a two year medical rotations visa in US to enroll in a 6.5 year program when there are plenty of other MBBS options for them.

B-1 is effectively a tourist visa allowed for medical rotations.
Relatively easier to get.
But, agree it is a risk.

Many Indian kids are wanting to do/practice medicine in the US.

NRIs are also a potential target.

@rajbgp
The research experience, internships and college courses you have mentioned looks good on your profile. Your ACT and job shadowing hrs are on low side. Rest of the profile looks good, IMO.
Questions:
1.Is this your GPA UW?
2.How many APs were done to date?
You said midwest, not sure which State, there are few in-state BS/MD programs out there. Check them out.
IMO, couple BS/DO programs can be added to your list, if you would like to consider them. You may consider applying test optional if program allows, if you would like to go with your 32 ACT score as is. Apply widely. Good luck.

midwest, not sure which State -
Nebraska

there are few in-state BS/MD programs out there. Check them out.
Nebraska has UHOP in-state program but is limited to underrepresented groups only
nearest one is Kansas BS-MD program which has some seats for regional state including NE

Is your GPA UW? UW -3.97 Weighted - 4.76
How many APs were done to date? - 6

IMO, couple BS/DO programs can be added to your list, if you would like to consider them.

Can you Please suggest BS/DO or any BS/MD for the profile
