Thread for BSMD 2020-2021 Applicants (Part 1)

WISE ( Women in Science and Engineering ) is women related Honors program. They both will do the job. Is your D interested in a Engineering major for UG ?

“Women in Science and Engineering (WISE ) Honors . The WISE Honors program offers educational and professional science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) opportunities for undergraduate female students at the university by facilitating individual, institutional, and social change.”

Yes, when I chose a slot for their interview, the last day that I saw has passed. I am very sure they are finished.

Call NJIT Honors/email the honors admissions… they r not done for sure… My D has her interview tomorrow and she only got the invite this Tuesday… Good Luck!

Honors selections aren’t over but BSMD interviews are most likely finished at this point.

How do we know, who got what interview ?

BSMD interviews were just that. We were asked about the program specifically and the interview was similar to a typical med school interview.

Honors interviews are likely focused on the Albert Dorman Honors College and likely didn’t have much to do with medicine.

For BSMD interviewees, both of these interviews are the same, but those who were not considered for the BSMD program could still be asked to interview for the honors college (ADHC).

NJIT Honors (ADHC) has conducted Honors college interviews at a NJ high school if there is a sufficiently large applicant pool from that HS. NJIT Honors interviews are done for regular NJIT Honors college applicants. If a Hs has 10-20 NJIT/BSMD applicants, not all will be interviewed for NJIT/NJMS but they would be interviewed for NJIT Honors college.

What do you mean by BS/MD interviews are done for NJIT? IS it not the Honors college interview initially and then you hear from them? Did you already hear from NJIT after your undergrad interview and moved to NJMS interview?

Sorry, I think my wording was confusing.

BS/MD interviews serve as both BS/MD and Honors College interviews. There will not be a separate interview for ADHC.

However, I believe NJIT also conducts interviews for normal entry into ADHC for students who didn’t apply to the BSMD program.

If you were invited to interview for the BSMD program, you fall into the first category.

Correct, the BSMD interview with the pre-health committee is separate from normal ADHC interviews.

makes sense now. Our invite said : “interview with our Accelerated Pre-Health Programs Committee” - so assuming, its bs/md one.

Correct. Mine said the same

So… the ADHC NON-BSMD interviews are still going on but the ADHC BSMD PRE-HEALTH interviews have ended.

I’m gonna call them tmr and then will report back.

@mygrad2021 NJIT Honors has a large applicants pool and they do interview them.

That makes sense!

@BGKYMom

IS your D’s interview with Accelerated Pre-Health Programs Committee at NJIT Honors tomorrow ?

She is applying for Biology major. I wanted to check if there is a specific number from each program that get into BS/MD.

That’s not true. There is no such thing as an honors interview for the honors college at NJIT. My source is my sister who is a current student there. According to a personal contact in the program, she had her initial honors interview with the heal professions dean in January back in 2015.

Her interview said it is for BS/MD program…

Yes, we did
